【英文懶人包】唔識分E.g.同I.e.?5組容易混淆嘅英文單字!

其實有好多英文單字好相似,所以好容易混淆!有時要用到呢的字嘅時候,一唔小心就好容易用錯單字!所以今次懶人包就分享5組容易混淆嘅英文單字,等大家要用到呢的單字嘅時候就唔會揀錯!睇完記住share俾你哋經常用錯字嘅朋友啊!

 

1.Affect ↔️ Effect

“Affect”同“Effect”真係每次見到都R曬頭,究竟幾時用邊個先啱呢?

 

Affect (v.) 影響

Effect (n.) 效果;影響;結果

 

“Affect”同“Effect”最大嘅分別就係“Affect”係動詞而“Effect”名詞,只要記清楚邊個係動詞,邊個係名詞,其實就冇咩大問題!不過真係記唔到都有方法嘅,就係搵其他相同意思嘅字代入去,例如用alter代入,如果句子make sense嘅話就即係嗰句句子可以用affect; 而effect就可以用result帶入句子。

 

2.Assure ↔️ Ensure ↔️ Insure

哇!好多sure,搞到我好唔sure啊!!!

 

Assure (v.) 為了去除任何疑慮而告訴某人某事情肯定會發生                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                             

Ensure (v.) 確保某件事會發生

Insure (v.) 投保

 

係用Assure呢個單字時,後面永遠都會跟一個代名詞(you/us/me)。而用ensure嘅時候,後面永遠都會唔會跟一個代名詞。

 

例子:

I can assure you of the reliability of the information.

We need to ensure a smooth transition between the old system and the new one.

 

3.Complement ↔️ Compliment

一個字母嘅分別!邊個先係讚賞嘅意思啊?

 

Complement (v.) 令某事物看起來更好或更有吸引力

Compliment (n.) 讚揚的說話

 

Fun fact: 原來好耐以前呢兩個單字嘅拼寫係可以互換,但係到左依家,佢哋就區分成為兩個不同意思嘅單字!

 

4.e.g. ↔️ i.e.

呢兩個會成日撈亂分唔清,究竟兩個嘅分別係邊啊?

 

e.g. = for example [例如]

i.e. = in other words/ that is [那就是說、換句話說]

 

兩個其實都係拉丁文嘅縮寫:E.g. 即係拉丁文 exempli gratia,i.e. 即係拉丁文 id est。E.g. 就是在舉例的時候用,而i.e.就是通過比更多資訊嚟解釋前面經已提及過的內容。仲未分到?咁就睇吓下面嘅例子啦!

 

例子:

I don’t like Japanese food, e.g., sushi or soba.

I am a vegan, i.e., I do not eat any animal-based products.

5.Stationary ↔️ Stationery

又係一個字母嘅分別,讀音又一樣咁濟,點分啊?

 

Stationary (adj.) 靜止的

Stationery (n.) 文具
